Carlos Zamora: A Life Fueled by Music, Culture, and Passion
A Lifelong Passion
Carlos Zamora has spent his entire life making music. From the early age of four, Zamora has found a passion in singing and playing different instruments. Early on in high school, Zamora started playing music with groups. From Norteña to trio music, Zamora has flexed his talents as a musician. Despite a love for music, Zamora was not always convinced that his passion could turn into a career.
“You know I was not as focused or dedicated or disciplined to make my goal a reality.”
It was later in life where his opportunity came directly after some adversity. After losing a job in construction, Zamora began finding opportunities to play instruments and sing with other musicians, finally taking the first step on the path to a successful career in music.
Making Music with Heart
For Zamora, passion is behind every great piece of music. From falling in love with Norteñas and trios music at an early age to finding a passion for harmonies and creativity, Zamora has always created with his heart.
“If you are just making music for the money, to me, it’s not real. You can hear passion. You can hear when someone puts their heart into it.”
Zamora knows just how special music can be. You can hear the love in his music and the way he discusses the music industry and the act of creation.
Overcoming Doubt with Love
As a musician, Zamora is always looking for ways to improve his craft. He is always looking for new sounds and unique ways to share his talent with the world. Despite a successful career as a musician, Zamora is still plagued by the doubt that we all may feel.
“It’s always something that has been a chip on my shoulder like I haven’t felt like I’m good enough.”
But, for Zamora, passion and love are the keys to overcoming feelings of doubt. He knows that when he makes music with his heart, he has nothing to worry about. Being able to adapt and overcome has been one of the driving factors behind Zamora’s continued success.
“There have been a lot of challenges in my music career…I don’t think there is a formula to overcome them, you just learn to adapt and keep moving forward. If you are down on yourself and you get an obstacle and you fall and you just don’t get up, what good is that going to do.”
